Expert Atlas: Team Roles & Setup

The four roles your firm can assign on Expert Atlas, and exactly how an Org Admin invites and manages a team.

3 min read

When your firm invites a colleague to join your organization on Exlitem, you choose one of four roles for them: Org Admin, Member, Viewer, or Restricted Viewer. That choice isn't permanent — any Org Admin can change a teammate's role later from the People tab, so there's no wrong first guess.

This article walks through exactly what the screens look like: the roster an Org Admin manages, the invite dialog, adding several colleagues at once, tracking invitations that haven't been accepted yet, and what an invited teammate sees when they click through. Every example below is the real product interface, live — search the roster, open the invite dialog, paste in a few rows, click through a pending invite. Nothing you do on this page is sent anywhere.

#The four roles

For what each role means generally — across firm billing, usage, and every corner of Exlitem — see Firm & Team Management. This article covers the Atlas-specific depth: exactly who can order research, who can see prices, and who can only read what's shared with them.

Pick a role below to see what it can and can't do in Atlas:

Can they…
Order new research (reports, scans, monitoring)
View every report the firm has ordered
View reports shared with them directly
Use Co-pilot
Set their own alert notification level (Following)
Share reports with others
Any report
Own orders only
See prices
See invoices, billing & firm-wide usage
Manage people (invite, remove, change roles)
Manage monitoring firm-wide (pause/stop anyone's)

Member

Orders research and sees the whole firm's library and prices.

#Setting it up: inviting your team

Everything in this section lives on the People tab of your Organization Console, and only an Org Admin can see and use it. If your role doesn't include managing people, ask your firm's Org Admin to make a change instead of trying to do it yourself.

Here's the roster an Org Admin sees day to day: everyone in the firm, their role, and when they joined. Search by name or email, filter by role, or open a row's menu to change someone's role or remove them from the firm — try it below.

To add someone new, click Invite member. You'll be asked for their email address and which of the four roles to assign — the picker spells out what each role means as you choose, so there's no need to leave the dialog to look it up.

Bringing on a whole team at once is faster than inviting people one at a time. Paste a list — one person per line, as email, role — and Atlas parses it live. Leave the role off a line and that person joins as a Member. Try pasting a few lines below to see the preview and validation update as you type.

Try the roster importer

One person per line, as email, role. Leave the role off and they join as Member. Type below — this runs the same parser as the product, live, but nothing you enter is sent anywhere.

Roles: Org Admin · Member · Viewer · Restricted Viewer

Every invitation you send sits in Pending until it's accepted, so nothing falls through the cracks. From this list you can see who hasn't responded yet, resend an invitation whose email failed to deliver, or revoke one you sent by mistake.

#What your teammate sees

Once you send an invitation, here's the other half of the story: what your colleague sees when they open the email and click through. They'll see who invited them, which firm they're joining, and what role they've been given, then one click to accept and start sharing the firm's credit pool and tools.
