Career
Robert Allen Belfer, M.D., is an American physician who has held several academic and clinical positions in the field of pediatric emergency medicine. From June 2006 to the present, he has served as the Director of Children and Adolescent Rapid Emergency Services, LLC (CARES) in Voorhees, New Jersey.
Between July 2001 and June 2006, Belfer was an Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-School of Osteopathic Medicine. During this time, he also worked as the Director of Team Pediatrics for Emergency Physicians Associates, Team Health, where he founded and served as the Medical Director of the Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Pediatric Hospitalist Program for the University Hospital System.
From July 1993 to July 1995, and again from October 1998 to July 2001, Belfer held the position of Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics, as well as the Director of the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Cooper Hospital/University Medical Center, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School-Camden.
Between July 1995 and December 1998, Belfer worked as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine in the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, MCP-Hahnemann School of Medicine.
Education and Certifications
Belfer completed a fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at the Emergency Medical Trauma Center, Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., from July 1991 to June 1993. He also served as the Chief Pediatric Medical Resident at Children's National Medical Center from July 1990 to June 1991, after completing his Pediatric Residency there from July 1987 to June 1990.
Belfer earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in May 1987. He previously obtained a Bachelor of Science in Economics from The Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania in May 1983.
Belfer is board-certified in Pediatric Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and the National Board of Medical Examiners. He holds medical licenses in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and is an instructor for various advanced life support courses.
