Matthew R. Marlin
Education
Matthew R. Marlin obtained his Ph.D. in Economics from Florida State University in 1981, where he had previously earned a Bachelor's degree in Statistics in 1972.
Employment
Marlin has held various academic and professional positions throughout his career. Since 2011, he has served as the Editor of the Journal of Legal Economics. From 2006 onwards, he has been a Professor and Chair of the Department of Economics and Quantitative Sciences at Duquesne University. Additionally, he has been the proprietor of Marlin Economics since 1999.
Prior to his current roles, Marlin held positions such as Associate Professor of Economics at Duquesne University (1990-1996), Assistant Professor of Economics at Old Dominion University (1982-1987), and Assistant Professor of Economics at Winthrop College (1980-1982). He also worked as a Tax Analyst for the Office of the Governor and the Florida Senate Ways and Means Committee from 1979 to 1980, and as a Statistician for the Florida Departments of Commerce and Transportation from 1973 to 1977.

Marlin is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Economic Association, the National Association of Forensic Economists, and the American Academy of Financial and Economic Experts, where he served as President from 2010 to 2011. He was also a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Legal Economics from 2008 to 2011.

Marlin co-authored the textbook "The Study of Economics: Principles, Concepts and Applications," which reached its 6th edition in 2000, published by Dushkin/McGraw-Hill.
