David A. Doddridge is a seasoned building code and construction consultant with over three decades of hands-on experience in the construction industry. As the owner of D. A. Doddridge and Associates, Inc., since 1996, Mr. Doddridge has provided expert witness services, including on-site inspections, expert reports, and testimony, as well as research and consulting for legal cases. His work addresses issues such as premises liability, worker injuries, and disputes involving construction defects or building code violations. Additionally, his firm conducts commercial building inspections, ADA compliance assessments, and general contracting services for residential and commercial construction.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Doddridge owned and operated Doddridge Construction, Inc., where he oversaw all phases of construction, from initial project planning to completion. His responsibilities included supervising contractors, ensuring code compliance, and managing site safety. This experience has equipped him with an in-depth understanding of real-world construction practices and the ability to interpret complex building codes in practical terms.
Mr. Doddridge holds multiple professional licenses and certifications, including a Commercial Construction Supervisor License, Residential Construction Supervisor License, and Building Code Certification through the International Code Council. He is also certified as a Walkway Auditor Safety Specialist by the National Floor Safety Institute, a Level Two Building Envelope Inspector by the Building Envelope Science Institute, and has completed OSHA safety training.
He is an active member of professional organizations such as the International Code Council, the Building Envelope Science Institute, and the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors. Mr. Doddridge has also authored and presented Continuing Legal Education (CLE) courses on topics including OSHA regulations, slip-and-fall investigations, and construction safety, further demonstrating his expertise in educating attorneys about technical construction matters.
