About
Dr. Yanping Gong is a highly qualified pathologist and clinical chemist with extensive credentials and over fifteen years of clinical experience. He holds an MD and PhD in Neuroscience/Neurology from Hebei Medical University in China, and completed postdoctoral fellowships at Johns Hopkins University and the University of Toronto, followed by residency training in General Pathology at the University of Saskatchewan. Dr. Gong is board-certified in General Pathology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as well as in Anatomical and Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology. She also holds certifications in Clinical Chemistry and Toxicological Chemistry from the American Board of Clinical Chemistry and the Canadian Academy of Clinical Biochemistry.
Since November 2018, Dr. Gong has served as an Attending Pathologist at Kingston Health Sciences Centre, specializing in head and neck, soft tissue and bone, gastrointestinal, and perinatal pathology. Concurrently, he holds the position of Laboratory Director at multiple Ontario hospitals, including Providence Care Hospital and Perth & Smiths Falls District Hospital. He maintains an academic appointment as Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine at Queen's University, where he actively teaches residents and medical students. Previously, Dr. Gong served as Chief of the Biochemistry Division at Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario and held clinical positions in British Columbia.
Dr. Gong has demonstrated significant research expertise, serving as Principal Investigator on multiple funded studies totaling over $470,000, particularly focusing on COVID-19 serological testing and pediatric reference intervals. He has authored over twenty peer-reviewed publications in prestigious journals and has been recognized as an expert reviewer for Health Quality Ontario technology assessments.
