He is a Life Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a member of the IEEE Computer Society, the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM), and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). He is also a Founding Digital Forensics Certified Professional (DFCP).

Dr. Gezelter has over 39 years of litigation-related experience. He has testified as an "Expert" on computer-related subjects before state courts, US District Courts, the International Trade Commission, and private arbitration panels. His litigation-related work includes plaintiff, defense, and neutral matters. He has been involved in all phases of litigation, from pre-filing to writing appellate briefs.

He has spoken over 160 times at local, national, and international conferences and meetings on a broad range of topics relating to his work. His first speech on electronic evidence was in 1990. He has published over 70 articles on a broad range of computer-related technical and management issues. He authored the debut "Security on the Internet" chapter for the "Computer Security Handbook, Third Edition (1995, Wiley). For the "Handbook of Information Security (2006, Wiley), Dr. Gezelter authored chapters on "Internet E-Mail Architecture" and "OpenVMS Security." He is the co-inventor on two patents; the sole inventor on one patent; and the sole inventor on multiple pending patents.
